OPTIONAL: Yr 12- Genre Mood Boards

Mood Boards

If you would like to demonstrate you knowledge and understanding of your chosen genre in more detail you can make mood boards. These should reflect aspects of your chosen genre (romance, horror, thriller, comedy, drama etc.)

Success Criteria
  • You should make a mood board for each of your products. They should focus on different aspects of your chosen genre (e.g. setting, costumes, iconography)
  • Include a wide variety of images, trailer stills, colours and key words which are reflective of your genre.
  • Make this using Photoshop/Pixelmator as it will be good practise for your other coursework pieces. Do NOT use word.
  • Annotate (label) your mood board to explain your choices AND to show how they represent your genre. 
  • Use terminology as much as possible in your annotations.
  • Explain what elements/ideas from you mood boards you will use in your final product.
  • Present your work creatively 


Challenge- You could also make mood boards exploring aspects such as lighting, shot types, colours used within your genre.
