Researching Industry Context:
You will need to research into how industry context (the media organisation, production processes, distribution and marketing, scheduling/positioning, regulatory issues etc.) impacts on a production.
Task- Explore in detail the industry contexts for the genre specific real media products you analysed in Task 2:
Consider:
General Industry Context-
- What the industry is.
- How the industry has changed/developed over time.
- Issues that are being faced by your chosen industries and why.
- How they are overcoming these issues.
- Regulation in place and issues that have occured.
- How all of these impact on a production.
Production company/conglomerate context-
- Who produced your chosen product.
- What type of company they are (e.g. independent).
- What their ethos is.
- What their audience is.
- How they produce (make) their products.
- How they distribute/market their products
- How/why they schedule the release of their products.
- Specific instances of regulation, what these were and what they did.
- How all of these impact on a production.
