TASK 3: Yr 12- Research into industry context

Researching Industry Context:

You will need to research into how industry context (the media organisation, production processes, distribution and marketing, scheduling/positioning, regulatory issues etc.) impacts on a production.

Task- Explore in detail the industry contexts for the genre specific real media products you analysed in Task 2:

Consider:

General Industry Context-

  • What the industry is.
  • How the industry has changed/developed over time.
  • Issues that are being faced by your chosen industries and why.
  • How they are overcoming these issues.
  • Regulation in place and issues that have occured.
  • How all of these impact on a production.

Production company/conglomerate context- 

  • Who produced your chosen product.
  • What type of company they are (e.g. independent). 
  • What their ethos is.
  • What their audience is.
  • How they produce (make) their products.
  • How they distribute/market their products
  • How/why they schedule the release of their products.
  • Specific instances of regulation, what these were and what they did.
  • How all of these impact on a production.
